Vintage Inspired Beauty

Posted on

If you’re anything like me, and will forever be a n00b in the world of beauty, then you know that beauty inspiration is necessary to everyday life. Whether you’re scrolling through your Instagram feed, scoping the latest runway trends, or ferociously tearing through magazines, having some sort of beauty reference makes it all the more easy when you sit down in front of the mirror and try to make something magical happen from the shoulders up. But instead of just looking at what’s current, why not take a page out of the beauty book of some retro babes?

Bridge+Bardot is obviously a clever little nod to the beautiful and talented Brigitte Bardot, so she is, of course, one of our favourite muses. Other ladies to draw inspiration from include lovelies like Françoise Hardy, Jane Birkin, Twiggy, Edie Sedgwick, and Yoko Ono (among others – it’s definitely worth doing a little research on the matter).

Perfecting the retro ‘do is essential to pulling off a vintage vibe. Luckily there are so many great looks to choose from, and mostly just require a bunch of hairspray, a quick brush of your hair, or nothing at all! You can go the Brigitte Bardot route with super sexy teased and tousled locks. Or more mod like Edie with her no fuss crop cut. And finally there’s the super straight and natural looks from Françoise and Jane – simple, clean, and chic.

To achieve the simplistic yet sexy vintage beauty looks of our beloved muses there are a few key things to focus on. The emphasis is definitely on the eyes – whether it’s a strong cat eye, heavy liner, or bold lashes – the focus is on the windows to the soul. Add a light and feminine nude lipstick to your pout and you’re ready to inspire nostalgia in everyone you meet.
